Are there Mardi Gras carnivals in Scandinavia? Certainly! The largest carnival in Northern Europe can be found in Aalborg, Denmark with colorful parades and celebrations. Now for the bad news: it doesn't take place in February.The carnival in Aalborg is a popular annual event and takes place in May. That way, Scandinavians ensure that they can wear glittery bikini outfits and exotic costumes in warmer temperatures (see Weather in Scandinavia).
In 1982, four people created the carnival in Aalborg and since then, this annual event has grown into the largest carnival in Scandinavia: more than 100.000 people come together to enjoy summer and hot samba rhythms these days. Read more about THE Carnival in Scandinavia!
