Islamist violence affecting Kenya's tourism

Violent attacks by islamist groups striking hard against Kenya's tourist industry. During this year's first eight months decreased the number of visitors in the country, with 22 percent compared with the same period last year.

The Kenyan military involvement in neighboring Somalia have led to several recent reprisals from groups that support the islamist militia al-Shabab. In addition to tea and flower exports, tourism is one of the country's main sources of income.
