A man is out walking on a beach in California and contemplate life when he suddenly exclaims:
- Lord, fulfill a wish for me
Suddenly the sky of dark clouds over his head and he hears God say in a deep voice:
- Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will fulfill one of your wishes.
The man says:
- Lord, build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can go there whenever I want.
God answers:
- Your request is very materialistic. Imagine how much thought and effort is required to make it possible to build the bridge you want. Just think of the pillars that will go all the way to the bottom of the ocean, imagine how much concrete and steel it would take, I can do it, but it's very difficult for me to fulfill your desires if worldly things. Take a little more time and think of another wish. A desire that you think would honor and glorify me.
The man thinks for a long moment and finally he says:
- Lord, I've been married and divorced four times. All my wives have said that I am insensitive and do not care about them. I wish I could understand me on women. I wish I could understand how they feel inside. I want to know how they think when they refuse to talk to me, why they cry and what they mean when they say ... nothing ... I want to know how to make a woman truly happy.
After a few minutes, God says:
- Do you want to have two or four lanes on that bridge ...
