Masterly floor displayed in Siena


Now there is a chance to see parts of Sienas Cathedral which tend to be closed to tourists. Here are more great Italian churches, you don't want to miss.

Kyrkgången in the big Cathedral of Siena is a true masterpiece, which not all visitors are discovered. Typically, the floor is covered with protective plates to prevent it from being torn apart by all tourists. But for two months now displays fine art in marble and mosaic, the newspaper La Repubblica. From 18 August to 24 October, there has been a chance to see works by Pinturicchio and Beccafumi. The reasons are, for example, the images of knowledge and Virtue, as well as pictures inspired by Christianity.
This, however, is just one of many great Italian cathedrals. Here are three others to check out.


Santa Maria del Fiore
It is not surprising that the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence is listed on UNESCO World Heritage list: it is an impressive experience. In Piazza del Duomo, the spectre of the magnificent symbol of Renaissance architecture up and sight takes almost blow a. The façade shifts beautifully in green, white and pink. The Church is one of Italy's largest and certainly one of the most beautiful.
Now, we can see that in the past was the entrance to the Cathedral, the eight tonne heavy bronze gate called door of paradise, which has been restored during the three decades. It is displayed in the Museo dell'Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, from september 8.


The Basilica di San Pietro
This is probably one of the world's most famous churches, Basilica, which is technically located in Vatican City. The huge Cathedral was opened in its present state in 1626. Sex meanders often long to enter, hit streams both tourists and Catholics from all over the world. But the wait is rarely particularly long. Inside, we find not only a huge space and magical atmosphere but also the Bernini's magnificent sculptures. Don't miss Michelangelo's pietà sculpture La nor respect, directly to the right of the entrance. The ork in the legs can also go to the top via the stairs-very narrow and winding for a stunning view over Rome.


Il Duomo di Milano
This Cathedral is one of the largest Gothic churches in the world and the most important example of Gothic architecture in Italy. The construction began as early as 1386, but was not fully completed until the 19th century, which also means that the Cathedral is characterized by several different styles. Also rewarded anyone who can put up the stairs with a spectacular view over the city.
